Thomas Chiang: Author & IT Veteran

Thomas Chiang

Thomas Chiang has been "crazy for robots" since childhood. This lifelong fascination eventually led to a forty-year career in Information Technology, a journey that has seen the world transform from the early days of silicon innovation to our current digital age.

Born in Taiwan—the heart of the global semiconductor industry—Thomas moved to the United States in 1983 to further his education and career. Over the following decades, he became fluent in the essential languages of machines, working extensively with C++, Perl, and PowerShell. But after forty years in the heart of the IT world, he realized that the most unpredictable and fascinating variable of all isn't the code—it's humanity. This perspective is what drives the ROBOKID universe.

Thomas draws inspiration from the Golden Age of robotics and the classic creature cinema of his childhood. His imagination was shaped by dinosaur lore and the giant monsters of 1960s film—influences that now help him explore the "what ifs" of our rapidly accelerating future.

When he isn’t navigating complex databases or crafting techno-thrillers, Thomas is an artist and photographer. His creative work has even been exhibited at the prestigious Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Today, he lives in the suburbs of Philadelphia, where he continues to explore the thin line between human ingenuity and artificial intelligence.
